I don’t get the whole Black Friday thing. At 4AM the morning after Thanksgiving day, I’m still in a severe food coma (“the itus”)… the last thing I want to do is battle the crazies at the mall for holiday deals. It’s like everyone seems to forget that we celebrated being THANKFUL the day before and turns into greedy savages who think they need to buy the entire store. I’ve learned my lesson over the years and wait for Cyber Monday, which is only a few days later and has the same great steals.
Just in case there’s some early birds out there who’ve already started shopping, I’m sharing an EASY way to get money in YOUR pocket while you’re shopping for others (or yourself|) during the holidays (or ever)…
Let me introduce you all to Ebates.
You may have seen commercials or advertisements about it, but if you haven’t… It’s a website that gives you cash back when you purchase things off websites (when directed to off the Ebates site.) Aside from the cash back, it also gives a list of coupons, promo codes, and exclusive offers on their products.
Almost all of my favorite stores offer cash back through Ebates: Sephora, Nordstrom, Club Monaco, J.Crew, J.Crew Factory, Victoria’s Secret, and Patagonia (to name a few). Each store has a different cash back percentage and they fluctuate from day to day. I get a daily email with the stores that are offering Double Cash Back.
I usually just browse online, per usual, and before I put anything into my shopping cart, I’ll head over to Ebates to see if they are on the list of websites that offer cash back. If it isn’t, oh well, but if it is… All you have to do is click the link and it’ll direct you to the site through your Ebates account. Shop as normal & the cash back percentage will be credited to your account after you make a purchase.
Sh** is legit. For those of you skeptical of how this is even possible, it’s because the stores pay a percentage of their sales to Ebates for marketing and therefore creating traffic to their site, Ebates then shares a portion of that amount back to their users. I only briefly talked about the program in this post, but if you’re still confused you can look at their FAQ.
Whenever I forget to check if I could get a cash back and order something without using Ebates, I kick myself for it. Although 3% back may not seem like much, it adds up. Especially during the holiday season. My last payment paid for the 1989 album (WHEN will the obsession and unpaid promo to T Swift end on my blog??? Never.)
For signing up and making my first purchase, Ebates sent me a $10 gift card to Target (they also offer different gift cards, but #letsbehonest Target is my spot). Sooo I guess the only question I have for you guys is, why haven’t you signed up yet?!! SIGN UP!
Will any of you try to use Ebates for this Holiday season? -I hope so!!
